Mycelium Undergrowth Fine Art Print

Karl Gaff Photography

  • This image brings to mind the mycelium matrix of fungi that forms the basis of the wood wide web, connecting all plants and tress of a community into a giant interconnected network. The wood wide web not only serves for communication between plants and trees but also allows for the transport and distribution of essential nutrients among them. Fungi are also responsible for breaking down and recycling of organic material through ecosystems. The more we discover about the nature of fungi and the ecosystem, the clearer it becomes at just how primitive our world wide web is compared to natures underground communication system. This is in fact a polarised light microscopy image of potassium hexacyanoferrate.
